RELIEF
The various orders a Court can make in respect of the financial aspects
of the divorce such as maintenance, lump sum and property adjustment.
FORM
A
Initial application to the Court for a time-table to be set for financial
issues to be dealt with within divorce procedure.

E
The financial disclosure document that has to be completed by the parties
setting out all their assets and liabilities.
FDA
First Directions Appointment. The parties attend at Court when questions
are raised on the Form E's and the information trail of disclosure is
closed.
FDR
Financial Dispute Resolution meeting. This is a meeting at Court where
both parties through their solicitors have to file extracts of information
to place before the Court where valuations of the matrimonial home should
be agreed and up to date figures given as to savings. In the extract of
information each parties proposed settlement should be set out. Both sides
then try and reach agreement and if this proves not to be possible the
District Judge will listen to submissions from both sides, read through
the extracts of information and give advice as to the probable order that
the Court will make at final hearing. If settlement is not possible the
Court will set the case down for final hearing.
DECREE
NISI
Provisional dissolution of the marriage. The Court indicates the grounds
of the divorce have been proven and the matter can be progress through
to Decree Absolute.

ABSOLUTE
Final Decree dissolving the marriage.
RESIDENCE
Who the children of the family live with.
CONTRACT
Formerly called access. When the parent, who the children do not live
with see the children.
