LONDON
MARATHON 2008
Sponsorship of local businessman Wayne Turpin
We were proud to have sponsored local businessman
Wayne Turpin (from Graham & Co Estate Agents),
who ran the London Marathon this year, to raise
money for Naomi House Children's Hospice.
Undertaking the challenge of
a lifetime, Wayne got off to a good start. For
the first 18 miles, he was on target to finish
in 4 hours, rain hindered the race on a couple
of occasions, however not even the weather or
the blisters could stop him and he managed to
complete the course in an incredible 4 hours 45
minutes. He was very pleased with his achievement,
however was generally overwhelmed by how emotional
the whole experience was.
Congratulations Wayne on your
personal achievement and we are sure that Naomi
House will put the money you raised to good use..

Longparish
Cricket Club - COLTS U13 TEAM
BS&I Solicitors LLP are proud to be sponsoring
Longparish Cricket Club Colts (Under 13 team),
for another consecutive year. The season is already
under way and they have started well with no defeats
from their competitors as yet. The sponsorship
will be used to provide new kit for the team,
along with helping to cover the cost of the indoor
netting which they rent out for their training
sessions during the winter months. We will update
on their progress as the season continues.

Musical
Extravaganza at Enham
Barker Son & Isherwood LLP Solicitors were proud
sponsors of the musical instruments workshop,
which recently took place at Enham. The event
ran from 7-11th April 2008 with workshops every
day from 7-10th for residents of Enham to take
part. There were 15 residents in total who attended
the workshops at different times. The workshop
itself was being run by Colin Jones a retired
craft and design lecturer who gave his time to
assist with the design and build of a multitude
of instruments with various cultural influences.
These ranged from 'skin' drums to 'reed' pianos.
Sarah Hendry from the Firm visited Enham on the
9th April to see work in progress. The workshop
consisted of 5 residents who were all working
hard to create their own masterpiece. They all
seemed to be having an enjoyable time and Tessa
Makepeace, the Charity Co-ordinator told us that
the sponsorship has been very much appreciated
and that the residents have expressed to her how
much they enjoy the workshops along with the fact
that they are learning about new and exciting
things. Thursday 10th April was the final day
for adding the 'finishing touches' and rehearsing
for the concert the next day. All the residents
who had taken part in the workshops during the
week, performed in the concert on Friday 11th
April, which Sarah and Richard Gregory (Partner
in the Firm) attended. The concert opened with
a specially written song entitled 'Enham'. All
types of music were covered during the performance
(including 'Summer Holiday', Everything I do,
Fernando, Don't cry for me Argentina', Every Step
you Take, Sunrise and Slow Boat to China), each
being performed as duets or solos and all exceptional
considering that they did not have much time to
practice. The residents were thoroughly enjoying
themselves and seemed very proud of their achievements.
The finale was written by one of the residents,
once again about Enham in a 'rock' style. Overall,
It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and it
was great to see such a fantastic performance
from everyone. It was both uplifting, at times
very poignant and it was certainly very much appreciated
by the residents who took part.
