Care Home Fees and Elderly Client Care
Barker Son & Isherwood - Andover, Hampshire
If one of your relatives has been admitted into a care home there is a chance that their care should be paid for by the NHS, even if they have been told they are not eligible. This is something we can explore for you and your relative.
We do understand that our elderly clients require a more sensitive approach to their legal needs and our experienced team can provide this for them. You can come along to appointments to support them and we can offer them the advice they need to deal with any legal issues they may have.
Care Home Fees
Since October 2007, if you received care for primary health need anywhere in England, the NHS must pay for this and cannot apply means-testing to this primary need.
It is important to understand the distinction of a primary need, as this may be the phrase the NHS used when turning down your application for payment of care home fees.
A primary health need is where your physical or mental need is a result of a disability, accident or illness and that need is the main reason for needing care.
If this is the case, there is a good chance you can claim back your relative’s care home fees. We can help you to move forward with getting your relatives free ongoing care and recover any money they have already paid for their care.
Our elderly clients have as much need for our legal services as many of our younger clients, but we know through experience that their needs and requirements are very different. We know that our approach has to be different in order to meet those needs and we offer that personal touch that clients, both young and old, appreciate.
If you are looking for legal representation for an elderly relative and they have limited mobility, we are happy to come and meet you at their home, nursing home or wherever is most suitable for them.
We will take the time to fully explain each issue properly and in a language that is easy to follow and understand. No matter how long it takes, it is important that they understand all of the issues.
We will also discuss the cost of appointing us as their solicitor and offer them and you a good idea of the costs involved right from the start.
